Belle, Cloths, Alpaca yarn

Well, the dying process went terribly. I don't know if I did it wrong or if the wilton colors I had just sucked. The only color I could get to take was bright pink. No thanks. So I gave up on dying and just started knitting Belle epoque. I'm almost done with the bottom lace border. Yay.

Moving along on the wash cloths. Am up to 6 done. Got the baskets and stuffing and body lotion and wash to make them. Yay.

Haven't been knitting as much at home because Rob got me a cross stitch that he wants me to do. Whee

Lace, Cotton, Mother's Day project

I've been wanting to learn lace and practice it. My ideal goal is to design an tank top/shell/top thing that uses a lacy stitch on the body, fitted chest with short rows and ruffly sleeves/straps that I can wear in spring. I have yet to find a pattern that matches those descriptions in my size so it looks like again I'm going to have to make the pattern myself. I swear I'm going to become a designer by default just because of my big chest. DDD cups suck, let me tell you.

Anyway, to practice lacy knitting, I decided to make giftbaskets for our mothers and grandmothers including hand knitted dishcloths. I made it over to hobby lobby yesterday and bought 9 balls of Lily Sugar n' cream. And I may go get more since it was so darned cheap. I'm getting all the patterns from The Dishcloth Boutique. So far I've made two and I'm on to three. Yay. Too bad there's no cable patterns or I could practice that too.

Still working on the wavy afghan, but I'm taking a break to work on the cloths. Whee.

Haven't started the dying process for the Belle yarn yet, but spring break's this week so I'll have plenty of time to get it done.

Armwarmer, updates you know

So I finally took a picture of my finished armwarmer:

You can see the full sized image in my Knitting Gallery. Yay!

Got my auction yarn, knit up a swatch and the guage is perfect for Belle Epoque. Happiness is mine. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to dye the yarn with wilton icing colors and I'm all set.

Fo's, but no pics

I finished the amazingly long scarf for the hubby, he proptly took it to bed to cuddle with. Heh.

I'm wearing my sweater based on the shapely tank. I like it, but there are a few things I would do differently if I made it again. Shorten the sleeves, lengthen the body and do a different/thicker border so it won't curl at the bottom. But for a first attempt, and with all the modifications I had to make, it turned out pretty well.

Waiting on my auction yarn to arrive. This yarn is ideally planned for use making Belle Epoque, but we'll have to see about gauge. If it doesn't work, then I have 2000 yards of yarn for baby blankets or something. I'm hoping to dye this yarn, well at least the mohair part of it since me and pure white are not compatible. I have wilton icing dye in the colors I want to use, but I'm having trouble finding a "how to" for dying with these, even though I've seen tons of people say they've used it successfully. Will have to post many pics.
